Who is this man? Why didn’t he like straight lines? Why didn’t he like sharp corners? And why was he so famous? Well I’m here today to tell you how famous Mr Friedrich Hundertwasser was. The famous Austrian artist was born in the little village called Viennese village. His mother was Jewish and his father was a civil servant. Earlier in his life he had witnessed the German holocaust and the murder of his 69 relatives, held in the awful concentration camps. His real name was Friedrich Stowasser. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts in 1948. While in Vienna, he was stunned by the magnificent work of Schiele. After meeting the French Painter Rene’ Bro, he moved to Paris and changed his name to Friedrich Hundertwasser. Hundertwasser’s interest in art began when he was very young. He would artistically draw and write measurements of his mothers flat. Now that you know more about the famous Mr Friederich Hundertwasser, lets move on to the questions. My first question I wanted to learn about was why he hated straight lines. He hated straight lines because everyone used them. He wanted to be an individual and do something no one else would do. He also called them a name. The ‘Devils tools’. My second question I wanted to know was why he also didn’t like sharp or pointy corners. He said it was because he wanted to be the one to introduce the ‘The crooked Corners’. He uses crooked corners in all of his art work. He does them for his borders as well. My third question I wanted to find out was why he was so famous. I mean come on who would like a painting that’s crooked. The whole world did at this particular time. He was famous for his individuality because most people wouldn’t even think of using art work in another shape or form. He created a lot of buildings in Austria. This was some of the art work he created back in Austria before he died. Friedrich Hundertwasser was born on the 15th of December 1928. His occupations were an artist, designer, sculptor, architect and surprisingly an actor. He also created a lot of designs for postage stamps all over the world. These are some of them here. Friedrich Hundertwasser sadly left this wonderful world on the 19th of February 2000 on the Queen Elisabeth’s cruise ship. He wanted to be buried in his second home, New Zealand. These are some of Hundertwasser designs in New Zealand. These toilets happen to be in Kawakawa. Friedrich Hundertwasser also put plants on top of the buildings he created because he wanted the buildings to smell nice, look affective and keep the moisture inside the buildings. Like this one. This is a photo of his own home. He brought it ugly and ruined and turned the dump into his own fine artwork. I don’t know how he could’ve done it but he was a real genius. So I hope you all know who Friedrich Hundertwasser is and acknowledge him for his beautiful art work he had once done. Thanks.
